treveccapalooza

This is a fun campaign I just worked on for a University who is putting together a summer tour with their own college bands around the US to promote their college. Genius Idea if you ask me! (not my design, that is….  the tour.)

I had a chance to shoot Alan and his daughter Mattie Jackson for an article in the latest issue of Paula Deen magazine – Mattie had written a video script for her father and the label chose to produce it! Kind of a fun article on father and daughter working together.. Go check it out…. If you are the “Cooking with Paula Deen” reading type, if not… I understand.

I was sitting in an office one afternoon with the universities marketing director brainstorming new ways to promote their college athletics and all-of-a-sudden this idea hit us like a mac truck! I really think we saw this very idea in our head before we had even started putting the shoot or design together.. All to say, the production (though crazy tedious) came really easy! I hope it represents them well..

A few months ago I had the chance to shoot behind the scenes of a video for Carrie Underwood. This shot surfaced as one of the stronger images. It was fast, furious, and different. Everyone on set was super nice and helpful.

My friend sent me a new “The Search for God and Guinness” sighting on the men’s web-site http://www.uncrate.com. The site blogs multiple times daily about new cool finds for men from books, to cars, to bacon jam! (YES!) to about a million other things guys might be somewhat interested… Go take a look!

I had friends of mine ask me to shoot their wedding – with the understanding that I haven’t shot weddings in the past and hadn’t planned on doing so in the future. I took it on with the understanding that it might be a fun challenge and a different experience to have under my belt, plus I wanted to see the difference in worlds for shooting commercial verses wedding photography. Interestingly enough I actually enjoyed shooting the wedding and the bridal portraits! I guess there are different types of pressure involved in both fields. For weddings, you only get a few chances to get pretty good to great shots, for commercial – you have more time but are expected to turn in brilliant shots (with 20 people looking over your shoulder at all times) Great Experience none-the-less.

WEDDING? WHY NOT?

From time to time, I have random funny ideas that pop up and I just have to execute them. Thankfully I have willing enough friends to come over to the studio and help me work thru some of these! Thanks Ally for willing to follow through with the fun!

I think one thing that is extremely overlooked in post-modern photography, especially with all the glossy post-production happening is the story element to the photograph, It’s pretty easy to get caught up in the look and totally overlook the soul of the image. I’m convinced people are naturally drawn to images they can sense the story in, than glitsy – glossy shots that have nothing behind them… Above is an image I tried to achieve a little of both in – This, I think is the hardest of all to do.
